There was a nice surprise from Amazon in AWS users inbox this morning. Amazon released a new tab to the Amazon Web Services console that allows you to see all your resource monitoring from CloudWatch in one spot. This gives administrators a birds eye view when looking at their entire operations. You can view everything going on in EC2 and RDS (Relational Database Services) from one spot. One of the best features released is a graphical user interface for setting up “Alerts”. Alerts allow you set metrics to watch your servers and alert you and your team when if something is happening you should know about such as a maxed out CPU or unusually high disk writes. For a monitoring enthusiast such as myself, these were two very important and needed upgrades.
